Eforwic Is Conquered

The city Eforwic was a thriving Anglo-Saxon Metropolis which presented an easy target for the Norse raiders. The army, led by Ivar the Boneless attacked on all Saints day, this gave them a huge tactical advantage as all the leaders were preoccupied in the Cathedral which left the city virtually defenceless. After the vikings had conquered the town it became the Viking capital of Britain. At one point it had more than 10,000 inhabitants which was almost the largest city at the time.
