The Danelaw Treaty

The Danelaw treaty was a treaty which was signed by the leader of the great Heathen Army and the ruler of Wessex, Alfred the Great. The treaty was formed sometime during the 870's after the Great Heathen Army had conquered huge swathes of north-east England and after several failed attempts to conquer Wessex, the vikings admitted defeat. Thus the treaty was formed. The treaty outlined laws to enforce peace and how the land would be split between the two forces.
