The Great Heathen Army

The formation of the great heathen army was made up of warriors from Norway and Denmark and possibly Sweden. Its purpose was to attack Britain. But unlike other raid on Britain which were hit and run type attacks. However this was a full scale calculated invasion force. The force consisted of roughly three thousand men who marched through Britain pillaging and plundering everything until after several years of fighting Wessex was the only kingdom left standing.
